Shannon Tarrant began her career in off-site catering, gaining invaluable experience working with various venues. This role taught her how to “make it happen” on-site at weddings and underscored the importance of building quality, reciprocal relationships with venues and leveraging their referrals.
After five years, Shannon became the wedding sales manager at a family-owned golf resort aiming to expand its wedding department. In just 18 months, she tripled the number of weddings annually, doubled the total revenue by creating better packages, and transformed weddings into a $4.5 million line of business for the resort. She also built a dream team at the venue, hiring and training coordinators to deliver exceptional client experiences and developing a marketing plan for higher quality leads and better sales conversions.
After a decade of working with engaged couples, Shannon sought a change while still embracing her love for the wedding industry and community. The shift in national marketing platforms’ policies, which required paid memberships for venue listings, posed a challenge for both couples planning their weddings and venues without national marketing budgets.
In response, Shannon founded Wedding Venue Map, a local Central Florida wedding venue search engine that features every venue in the market with both free and paid listings. For couples, the platform offers fifty different criteria to filter and sort the list, helping them find their ideal venue.
Wedding Venue Map combines Shannon’s passions: guiding couples to plan their dream weddings and helping wedding and event venues connect with their ideal clients. She spends her days learning from couples about their search processes, frustrations, and desires, and shares this valuable information with venues in Central Florida and across the country.
